Our two churches and hall spaces are available for regular group bookings and one-off events such as concerts, craft fairs and children’s parties.
St Peter’s Church is ideal for concerts, talks and presentations to large or medium-sized groups. The church can seat 300+ people comfortably, but does not feel too big for smaller gatherings. Guests can also have use of the kitchen, parish room and facilities, as well as the children’s area at the back of church, and outside space in the summer. Concerts can be supported by our Grade II* listed Harrison and Harrison organ which sits on top of the Gallery at the west end of church, and/or the Clavinova. The recently-reordered chancel, fitted with moveable sanctuary furniture, provides an ideal space for music groups and orchestras to rehearse, or to perform to an audience sitting in the pews. Alternatively, organ recitals have been given on the Harrison with the chancel filled with chairs facing the instrument. Space allows for tables for refreshments in the main body of the church, if that is preferable to the parish room, and several personal microphones can be made available. The church is entered by an accessible ramp, but there is currently no disabled toilet.
St Peter’s Parish Room is ideal for smaller groups and meetings, seating up to 20 individuals comfortably. The room is adjacent to the kitchen and facilities, meaning that refreshments can easily be provided. The room is accessed via a separate external door on the north side of the church building or through the inside of the church.
St John’s Church and Hall is a very flexible space, providing up-to-date facilities for groups of any size. It is used regularly by uniformed organisations and dancing classes, as well as by Horbury Bridge Academy for diverse activities such as assemblies and PE. The hall easily seats 60 individuals, and the space can be used creatively, laid out with individual tables for dining or parties, or with rows of tables and chairs in the style of a theatre or classroom for presentations and meetings, or with chairs and tables round the edge and space in the centre for activities such as craft fairs or dances. The kitchen and facilities are both modern and accessible, and catering for groups of about 50 regularly takes place. The church organ and piano are also available for use by hirers, making St John’s an ideal place for a more relaxed concert or performance. Two personal microphones are similarly available for use. During school hours the church is accessible from St John’s Road; outside of school hours, access is usually through the school playground.
